Accountability

There are only two sides of the battles in life: good or evil. There is no middle road, no complacency, no pleading ignorance. Jesus addresses this concept in Matthew 12:33-37 when He chastises the Pharisees:

"Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil. But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

This response from Jesus was prompted by the Pharisees stating He was Beelzebul or satan (v24). The Pharisees will be accountable for their words of blasphemy when judgement comes. Today, those who speak negative against God’s chosen warriors are subject to the same accountability and judgement.

For us, we need to stay strong in our faith when evil seems to prevail, and the enemy attacks. When the world promotes actions that are in direct contrast to desires God explains in His Word, remain firm and speak the truth. When faced with the temptation to accept and be tolerant of sin, do not deviate from communicating God’s call to live according to His standards. This battle is fierce, and God will hold everyone accountable depending on which side we choose and what we promote. Stay strong in the fight for righteousness.
