Power

When we believe in God the Father who created us with a purpose, the Messiah the Son of God who sacrificed Himself for our salvation, and the Holy Spirit who convicts, guides, and comforts us, we have access to the full power of the Almighty Lord. This power is the same power which raised Jesus from the grave and seated Him at the right hand of the Father.

The Apostle Paul writes about tapping into the power of God in a letter to the saints in Ephesus.

Ephesians 1:18-21:

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

Ephesians 2:5-7:

… (God) made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

As fellow saints and followers of Jesus the Son of God, we reign with Him (present tense) and are seated with Him, having access to His great power. You have this access. The power to discern, the power of wisdom, the power to judge, and the power to dismantle evil are all at your disposal.

The Apostle John documents Jesus telling us the functions that the Holy Spirit performs.

John 16:8-11:

“And He (Holy Spirit) when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgement; concerning sin, because they do not believe me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; and concerning judgement, because the ruler of the world has been judged.”

In the second chapter of Acts we have the recorded event of the Holy Spirit being sent onto the saints. In this period which we live today, God resides with His saints through the Holy Spirit who guides us towards the appropriate conduct.

We saints are: … alive with Jesus … reside in heaven … incorporated with the Holy Spirit.

As saints, we have the power delegated to us to:

· Convict people of God’s acceptable conduct.

· Petition people to function in truth, integrity, and honesty.

· Discriminate between right and wrong.

Everything, including all evil and satan, is under the power of the name of Jesus. As saints, we are tapped into this power. We expose sin, confirm righteousness, and yes make judgements. It is time for all saints to get bold! Become intolerant of the sins in our society that evil is trying to normalize. Speak out about injustices. Defy corruption. Challenge complacency. We have the duty to exercise power to defeat evil. Now is our time to be the warriors empowered by God.

You have the defeating power, the battle is on, are you engaged?
